Design starts with an idea, a potential solution to a problem by either creating a new innovative product, or improving
an existing system. After this initial "light bulb" moment, the next phase of the design process is concept ideation and
development. During this process, we research the problem by conducting a thorough investigation of the current
product market for similar or related products, and begin the ideation process.

At Apogee we utilize the Semantic Design Process, pioneered by Reinhardt Butter, Industrial Design Professor at The
Ohio State University. Through this process, in addition to exploring hundreds of form and function sketches to find
the best mechanical solution, we also research the semantic meaning of the product's function, investigating
manifestations of key attributes that the customer wishes to convey with their new product. This process is designed
so that the end user can visualize the purpose and function of the product just by seeing it.

At apogee we implement our ideation process through pencil ideation sketches to explore initial ideas, then take it a
step further. The best ideations are then further explored with visually striking design marker and Photoshop
renderings. These "Persuasive Sketches" are designed to help the customer envision their final product.
